When you’re running a business, it can be difficult to know where to start when marketing and promoting your brand! You don’t want to spread yourself too thin, so you must decide where you want to dedicate your efforts. Now, before you start you need to establish who your market is – from this, you can work out what platforms to use.

For anyone that is confused about what kind of platform to use for the content that you wish to push out:

Facebook is a consumer marketing channel, where you’re most likely to gain purchase, and the typical demographic is

Instagram is a visual platform all about the ‘human touch’; the platform is where you want to tell a story from your images and convey what your brand represents.

YouTube is all about influencers, education and music.

Linkedin is for all your B2B and corporate content.

Twitter is all about conversations – remember when using twitter content can be lost quite quickly.

So now after you’ve decided on what platform you wish to use then focus on the following.


Now we all know that graphic design can be complicated, so if you don’t have time to learn how to use applications like Adobe then you must try out Canva! Whether you want custom social media icons for your website or new business cards for your sales team, Canva has free tools to support your visual projects. You can edit photos, create graphs, and develop print media. When you need a graph for your website or an upcoming presentation, you can start with a wide range of templates to graphically represent your data.

2. Link tree

Now if you’re like me and write a lot of blog posts then it can become annoying when you post a promotion for your blog on Instagram but can’t add the link in your post, so you have to add it to your bio BUT then you upload another blog the next day and have to remove the previous link!

So a handy tool I have found is a link tree! It allows you to add multiple links into a ‘tree’, so you don’t lose any of your content.

2. Adobe Creative Cloud

Adobe Creative Cloud includes Illustrator, Premiere Pro, Photoshop, InDesign and MUCH MUCH MORE. However, if you wish to create some eye-catching graphics, you’re best using Illustrator, which will provide you with training on the application.

Even if you don’t know how to use these applications they’re countless videos for free on YouTube – I attached some below for you all.

3. Slack

With Slack’s instant messaging platform, you can organise your team’s conversations into separate private or public channels or send a direct message. The app also makes it easy to drag, drop and share images, PDFs and other files right in the chat. It automatically indexes and archives any message, notification or file, and there’s no limit to how many users your business can add.
The platform makes communication and daily work easy to manage and trackable.

4. Planoly

Do you use Instagram? If you don’t then, you should consider trying it out – but if you do and struggle to visualise what your posts will look like once on the grid structure of the platform then try out Planoly! This site allows you to schedule posts, add hashtags, track your analytics and allows you to preview what it would look like on your grid!
